#25 Mitchell Johnson – Unavailable / Paternity Leave – Was released to play by the Australian team after being named 12th man for the Test against Sri Lanka but has opted to remain in Perth with his newly-born baby daughter and wife. Is contracted to suit up against the Renegades in Round 4 on Saturday.
#33 Shane Watson – Unavailable / International duty – Playing in the first Test against Sri Lanka. The Heat have requested he be made available for Saturday's Round 4 game against the Renegades as it is in Melbourne, the venue of the Boxing Day Test. Awaiting a reply.
#45 Ryan Harris – Unavailable / Shoulder – Decided before Round2 to withdraw from the Heat squad on medical grounds and try to build more slowly for the second half of summer. Has been playing Grade cricket as a specialist batsman but is yet to bowl at any level. Replaced by Matthew Gale.
#11 Dan Vettori – Unavailable / Achilles – Hurt his Achilles a week out from the start of the season and has been ruled out for the entire tournament. Like Steyn, he is eligible for Champions League. Replaced by Thisara Perera.
#1 Dale Steyn – Unavailable / Withdrawn – Had his availability pulled by Cricket South Africa at the 11th hour. His one-game stint with the Heat has becomes nil but he remains contracted for the Champions League should the Heat qualify.
