A multi-talented allrounder with serious pedigree, Chris Sabburg lived the dream after being plucked from the KFC T20 Challenge to be the 18th contracted player for the Heat in BBL|02.
After regularly fulfilling 12th man duties through the early part of the tournament, Sabburg debuted against the Hurricanes in the last qualifying round and was part of the winning semi-final and grand final teams.
The affable Toombul player did not get a bat or bowl in that time, but he did takes five catches and was a livewire in the field.
Originally from Gatton, he is the nephew of former Queensland fast bowler Dirk Tazelaar and a cousin of Bulls legend Andy Bichel.
Sabburg caught the eye in T20 competitions at Premier Grade level and during the past two KFC T20 Challenge competitions, as well as earning selection in the Queensland Academy of Sport 2nd XI squad that played in the Futures League T20 competition in 2011-12.
He was an Australian U-17 squad selection and a Queensland youth team player and also represented Minor Counties in England during a successful stint playing League cricket in 2010.
An early riser due his work at the Brisbane Fruit & Vegetable markets at Rocklea, he notes that he spends most of his working days with sticky hands due to handling mangoes and other fruits.
