A multi-talented allrounder with serious pedigree, Chris Sabburg lived the dream after being plucked from the KFC T20 Challenge to be the 18th contracted player for the Heat in BBL|02.
After regularly fulfilling 12th man duties through the early part of the tournament, Sabburg debuted against the Hurricanes in the last qualifying round and was part of the winning semi-final and grand final teams.
The affable Toombul player did not get a bat or bowl in that time, but he did takes five catches and was a livewire in the field.
He finally got a bat in the Champions League T20 in India in September 2013 and didn't disappoint, whacking 19 off 11 balls at the finish against the Titans, including a massive six off South African Test star Morne Morkel.
He was not offered one of the first 17 contracts for BBL|03 but again gained the 18th and final spot on the Heat roster after all players were considered who took part in the KFC T20 Challenge.
Originally from Gatton, Sabburg is the nephew of former Queensland fast bowler Dirk Tazelaar and a cousin of Bulls legend Andy Bichel.
He was an Australian U-17 squad selection and a Queensland youth team player and also represented Minor Counties in England during a successful stint playing League cricket in 2010.
He spent a season working at the Brisbane Fruit & Vegetable markets at Rocklea but is now studying to become a personal trainer.
