Heat Out To Keep Streak Alive

16 November 2020

The WBBL Brisbane Heat have retained their squad of 13 that secured two vital wins over the weekend to lift the reigning titleholders into third spot on the rebel Women’s Big Bash League ladder.

The Heat’s comprehensive 10-wicket win over the Hobart Hurricanes yesterday propelled the team from fifth to third spot.

Brisbane players enjoyed a recovery day today ahead of back-to-back matches tomorrow and Wednesday against the fifth-placed Sydney Sixers and second-placed Perth Scorchers.

Brisbane then have their final two regular season games on Saturday and Sunday against the ladder-leading Melbourne Stars and Renegades respectively.

The Heat’s big win over the Hurricanes came off the back of another half century to opener Georgia Redmayne whose 61 not out from 33 balls was her third score above 50 in the tournament so far.

She and Grace Harris (23no) ensured the Heat winning total of 0-86 in 11.4 overs comfortably eclipsed Hobart’s score 82 which saw seven individual Heat bowlers take wickets.

Allrounder Charli Knott claimed her inaugural dismissal for the Heat, coming in her third game, while international leg-spinner Amelia Kerr (2-16), captain Jess Jonassen (2-8) and Nicola Hancock (2-20) were the multiple wicket-takers.

Tomorrow’s match against the Sixers at the Sydney Showgrounds starts at 1.30pm Qld time.
