The Brisbane Heat’s continued drive to provide fans with family-friendly entertainment has been rewarded with two nominations in the annual Mumbrella Sports Marketing Awards.

Driven by a strategy of producing engaging and entertaining content, the Heat will contest the Best Use of Owned or Social Media category after seeing its social media audience established as the biggest for an Australian sports club, with Instagram and Facebook key channels of growth in 2018-19.

The Heat’s innings break light show was shortlisted for the Best On-Ground Activation award after proving to be a memorable inclusion in the club’s game-day experience.

Sponsored by the Department of Transport and Main Roads and named in-line with the Queensland Government’s 2018-19 summer road safety campaign, the #LiftLegends Innings Break engaged fans as an energetic lights and pyrotechnics show, choreographed to a storyline featuring Village Roadshow characters Batman, The Flash, Wonder Woman and The Joker.

Commenting on the club’s Mumbrella Sports Marketing Awards nominations, Brisbane Heat General Manager Andrew McShea said:

“Everything we do as a club from our match-day experience through to content on social media is about engaging and entertaining our fans, so it’s a great reward to be recognised in these two areas.

“While we are no doubt up against great competition for both awards, we feel our strength in providing fans with memorable experiences across all our channels and touch points holds us in good stead.

“While a lot of hard work goes on from talented team members to achieve results like this, we also need to recognise our sponsors and partners who share our vision for our event-day and digital initiatives. With that, we’d like to thank the Department of Transport and Main Roads and Village Roadshow Theme Parks who collaborated with us on the Lift Legends Innings Break.”

Now in its third year, the Mumbrella Sports Marketing Awards recognise the clubs, teams and agencies delivering outstanding work in the field of Australian sports marketing, fan engagement, sponsorship and public relations.

The awards winners will be announced at the Mumbrella Sports Marketing Summit on July 4.
