Heat VR, the Brisbane Heat's virtual reality and innovation brand, has been nominated in the ANZSTA Social and Fan Engagement category, with the winner to be announced at an awards dinner in Melbourne on Thursday evening.
Heat VR was launched in October 2016 in association with the club’s Principal Partner CUA as Australian sport’s first ever virtual reality brand, encompassing a mobile application and outdoor VR activation, and has continued to push the boundaries in digital innovation.
TheHeat VR mobile app, which is available for free on the Android and iOS stores, has been a hit with fans and houses 360 degree videos and augmented reality content, offering unique behind the scenes access.
The Heat's VR and AR event activations allows fans to experience what it is like to play for the club in front of a sold-out Gabba crowd, and was available at all BBL home games and major events throughout summer.
The ANZSTA nomination marks a significant few weeks for the Heat after announcing a new partnership with Village Roadshow Theme Parks, while the recent release of the BBL and WBBL draws will see the club reach more Queensland fans than ever before with men’s and women’s home games to be played in Brisbane, the Gold Coast, Mackay and Cairns this summer.
