Allrounders Sammy-Jo Johnson and Jess Jonassen led the way as Brisbane made the most of the conditions after winning the toss and bowling to restrict Perth to 8-103, with Aussie batter Elyse Villani (45) the only Scorcher to shine.
Johnson, who toured India with Australia ‘A’ last month, produced a superb display to finish with 2-9 from four overs as she mixed sharp pace with an array of slower deliveries.
Jonassen, a member of the World T20 championship squad, delivered with bat and ball as she claimed 2-17 from four overs before icing the small run chase with 28 from 17 balls as Brisbane reached the target for the loss of three wickets in the 13th over.
The Heat maintained a stranglehold on the Scorchers innings for much of the innings, with Australian allrounder Delissa Kimmince (2-24 from four) and Jemma Barsby (1-16 from out) contributing wickets and dot ball pressure.
The run chase started brightly with Grace Harris (12 off 5) hitting early boundaries.
Australian opener Beth Mooney then controlled the chase on the way to an unbeaten 25 from 23 balls, with captain Kirby Short delivering key boundaries in her 27 from 21 balls.
The Heat meet the Sydney Thunder tomorrow in their second game of the WBBL weekend at North Sydney Oval, with the game broadcast on 7Mate and FOX Cricket as well as covered by ABC Grandstand.
