was officially born in BBL|05.
Though Chris Lynn had enjoyed great success in the Big Bash League throughout his career, it was his exploits during the 2015-16 season that sent him into a different stratosphere.
His season haul included 378 runs - the most by any batter - at a strike rate of 173, three 50s, one breathtaking century and a dually-awarded Player of the Tournament gong.
He also smashed 27 sixes, the most by any batter in the tournament, with five of them coming from one Ben Hilfenhaus over at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
The first was a brutal swipe over the leg-side boundary, the second a bigger shot over mid-wicket that Lynn clipped off his toes, while the under-pressure Hilfenhaus missed his length on a for the third six that disappeared into the same region of the crowd as the first two.
With the leg-side line not working, Hilfenhaus pushed a slower-ball outside Lynn’s off-stump, however the result was the same as the bowler saw the ball disappear over his head and into the MCG seats.
With one ball left in the over, Lynn was full of confidence and ready to pounce as a length ball was again served up, which he proceeded to smash down the ground again, just clearing the rope for the fifth six in a row.
Lynn raised the bat for the final time in BBL|05 after bringing his 50 up off the final ball – and his fifth six of the over.
The Heat went onto win the game and # was trending worldwide.
