Joe Burns had a BBL|02 campaign to remember.
He made his BBL debut, won a championship, top-scored for the Heat in the final and was the club’s second-leading run-scorer.
There was also a special piece of fielding at Blundstone Arena in Hobart that will live fond in the memory.
Midway through the Hurricanes’ innings, Travis Birt skies a pull shot of Dan Christian that travels towards the mid-wicket boundary.
Sensing a chance, Burns sprints to his left as Birt’s shot looks set to go the distance.
Keeping his feet as he tiptoes around the boundary, Burns reaches out his left hand and miraculously holds onto what surely is the catch of the season while trying to keep himself in the field of play.
Burns capped off a fine match with 41 not out in the Heat’s successful chase of 151, the win made all-the-more important as it ensured the club reaches the semi-finals for the first time.
