Pattinson was picked in the Australia A one and four day squads that will play five white ball games to coincide with the World Cup, and three red ball games to lead into the Ashes. His last game in Australia colours came in February 2016 in a Test match against New Zealand before he endured a tough run of injuries.
The 28-year-old had a somewhat frustrating first season for the Brisbane Heat, playing only five games before being sidelined with a side strain, though he did show glimpses of the form that has seen him declared as one of the country's finest fast bowlers.
He returned to full fitness late in the summer and played an instrumental role in Victoria's Sheffield Shield victory.
Pattinson was also awarded a Cricket Australia contract for the 2019-20 year.
He is expected to return to County team Nottinghamshire as he prepares for an Ashes tilt.
