Gregory Named For First Time

26 December 2020

The Brisbane Heat have added English allrounder Lewis Gregory and wicket-keeper batsman Lachy Pfeffer to their squad for tomorrow night’s KFC Big Bash League match at the Gabba against the Hobart Hurricanes.

Gregory, who became available for the Heat on Christmas Day after completing his two weeks of mandatory hotel quarantine, will train tonight at the Gabba for the club.

A decision on whether he plays tomorrow night will be held until just prior to the start of play after he meets with medial and coaching staff.

Pfeffer, a local replacement player for Joe Burns, bolsters the batting depth in the wake of Chris Lynn’s hamstring injury prior to the loss to the Adelaide Strikers earlier this week.
Both players would make their BBL and Brisbane Heat debuts if chosen in the starting line-up.
Lynn is targeting a return to playing for the Heat’s Melbourne leg from January 14 after scans prior to Christmas revealed a lower grade strain.
Gregory, 28, toured South Africa recently with the English ODI and T20 International squad and has been in quarantine in Brisbane for the past two weeks.
The Somerset captain has previously played in the Bangladesh Premier League and Pakistan Super League.
The Heat take on the Hurricanes in back-to-back games at the Gabba, with the two teams meeting again on Wednesday evening.
