Labuschagne, who is in the final day of the rain-affected Sydney Test at the SCG, will link with the team tomorrow ahead of their KFC Big Bash League match against the Sydney Thunder at Spotless Stadium from 6.15pm Qld time.
Labuschagne’s inclusion is the only change to the squad that defeated the Perth Scorchers at Optus Stadium on Saturday night to the record the club’s first win after losing the opening three games.
The Australian number three has come into the squad in place of Alex Ross who was 12th man in Perth.
In a further boost, Joe Burns was cleared today of any lingering effects from being hit in the helmet off the final ball of the game in Perth.
Heat coach Dan Vettori said the nature of the Spotless Stadium wicket had played a role in the squad selection.
“We’ve seen how the drop-ins have played so far and having Marnus in the squad with his ability to bowl leg-spin gives us a few options,’’ he said.
“We have pulled up really well from the Perth trip and physically are feeling good coming into a playing bloc of two games in three days,’’ Vettori said.
The Heat take on the Melbourne Renegades on Thursday at the Gabba as part of a double-header with the WBBL Heat which are aiming to lock up a finals berth when they take on the Melbourne Stars.
