Australia ‘A’ and U-19 wicket-keeper Josie Dooley has been cleared to return from a broken finger and replaces teen allrounder Charli Knott in the 13-player squad for matches against the Perth Scorchers and Sydney Thunder on Saturday and Sunday at North Sydney Oval.
Dooley missed the opening round last weekend in Melbourne when the Adelaide Strikers completed a comfortable win over the Heat.
She played for the Cricket Australia XI in T20 tour matches against New Zealand and Australia in October and toured India with Australia ‘A’ last month.
Heat coach Peter McGiffin said Dooley offered another batting option over the weekend, after Brisbane finshed well adrift of the Strikers’ total despite unbeaten half centuries from Beth Mooney and captain Kirby Short.
“I’m sure Charli Knott gained some useful insights from the Melbourne trip and she will continue to learn and develop as we get further into the series,’’ he said.
Both of this weekend’s matches will be broadcast live on 7Mate and FOX Cricket and covered by ABC Grandstand.
The Heat travel to Sydney today.
