The heart of the Brisbane Heat has delivered a winter boost with acclaimed wicket-keeper Georgia Redmayne extending her time in teal until 2028.

Redmayne has extended her current contract for this season’s Weber Women’s Big Bash League by a further two seasons, securing her spot for WBBL|12 and WBBL|13

The 31-year-old top order batter and ‘keeper joined Brisbane in 2020-21and has played 73 matches for the Heat, scoring 1938 runs including 14 half centuries.

She has taken 48 catches and made 38 stumpings and will be a strong change of bringing up 2000 runs and 100 dismissals for the Heat in WBBL|11 this season.

Redmayne, who has played 125 WBBL games in her career, joined the Heat for WBBL|06 after previous stints with the Hobart Hurricanes and Perth Scorchers.

She will build on her T20 experience with upcoming playing stints with the London Spirit in The Hundred in the UK and the Women’s Caribbean Premier League where she will play with the Barbados Royals alongside her future Heat teammate, West Indian allrounder Chinelle Henry.

Brisbane Heat coach Mark Sorell welcomed the surety that Redmayne’s signing provides for the club.

“Georgia is the heart of the team in many ways,’’ he said.

“She’s an international class player as a wicket-keeper and top order batter, and her competitiveness and desire for success drives us in the right direction,’’ he said.

“Her batting is highly important for us, both as an individual and in building partnerships as we move through key areas of the innings.

“With her and ‘JJ’ (Jess Jonassen), Grace Harris and Jemimah Rodrigues, we are agile in how we can assess situations, formulate a plan, and take advantage of what lies ahead when it comes to setting or chasing targets.”
