The Brisbane Heat will be in the box seat to contest the semi-finals of the T20 Spring Challenge later this week after winning three of their four round matches.
Semi-Finals Loom For Heat
The Heat lost today to the Hobart Hurricanes at North Sydney Oval, replicating the result of the Final of last summer's inaugural competition which was created to provide a lead-in warm-up series for clubs ahead of the Weber Women's Big Bash League.
The Heat and Hurricanes sit on top of the ladder with six points currently, and will eye the semi-finals on Wednesday with confidence.
Brisbane comfortably overcame the Melbourne Stars yesterday, with Lucy Hanilton claiming 4-8 to record the tean's best figures to date in the tournament.
After making 6-154, with Georgia Redmayne (42), Nic Hancock (36no) and Lucy Bourke (35) the leading contributors with the bat, Hamilton led the charge to dismiss the Stars for 91.
That 63-run win provided a timely boost to the Heat's net run rate.
Brisbane competed hard today at North Sydney Oval. With storms threatening, the Heat batted first but were dismissed for 128.
Captain Charli Knott (26), Redmayne (27) and Hancock (28) were the leading scorers.
After losing two early wickets, the old guard of Nicola Carey and Elyse Villani saw the Hurricanes through to victory with five overs to go.
The Heat will be without batter Mikayla Wrigley after she injured her ankle during the Stars game yesterday.
