The Presets will play pre-game and half-time sets at the KFC Big Bash League clash with the Melbourne Stars, with the event to be supported by TEG (Ticketek Entertainment Group) for the first time. The band have forged an award-winning career since Julian Hamilton and Kim Moyes formed the group in Sydney in 2003.
Their 2008 release, Apocalypso, debuted at number one on the ARIA Albums Chart, and went on to win six awards at ARIA Awards 2008, including Album of the Year. In 2009, Hamilton and Moyes won an APRA Award for Songwriters of the Year, and another ARIA Award, this time for Best Dance Release for "Talk Like That".
Their 2007 release ‘My People’, which spent 18 months in the ARIA singles chart, came in at number 55 on the Triple J Hottest 100 Australian songs of all time earlier this year.
The Presets have been recognised worldwide for their dynamic live performances, playing hundreds of shows domestically and internationally, including key slots at renowned international music festivals such as Glastonbury, Coachella, SXSW, Exit, Melt and Splendour In The Grass.
The New Year’s Bash has previously featured leading Australian artists like Pnau, Peking Duk, Ball Park Music, Eves Karydas, Stace Cadet & KLP as well as Brisbane-based international vocalist, rapper and producer Example.
Brisbane Heat General Manager of Marketing, Commercial and Public Affairs, Pete Lock, said the fourth New Year’s Bash promised to deliver another powerhouse BBL event.
“We’re pumped to welcome one of Australia’s most popular acts, The Presets, to the Gabba and are delighted to be able to partner with TEG to give our members and fans a brilliant experience for the start of the New Year,’’ he said.
“The New Year’s Bash has been consistently one of our best-selling matches and with the game against the Stars falling on a Friday night, we expect that trend to again be strong.
“TEG are world leaders in delivering memorable entertainment experiences. They’ll certainly bring a lot of industry experience and knowledge to this event, and we’ll be working closely with them to deliver a fantastic night for thousands of locals and visitors,” Lock said.
Cameron Hoy, Chief Operating Officer & Global Head of Ticketek, said:
“The New Year’s Bash is already a much-loved fixture on the summer calendar, and Ticketek Entertainment Group is delighted to collaborate with the Brisbane Heat to bring this year’s event to life.”
