PEIRSON RETURNS | Most Capped Back In Teal

The ‘Heart of the Heat’ will suit up in teal for his 13th BBL season these summer holidays.

Experienced wicket-keeper Jimmy Peirson has signed on for this season’s KFC Big Bash League, with his status as the club’s most capped BBL player set to continue.

Peirson has played 124 matches for the Heat across a dozen seasons, the fourth most BBL career games by a current single-club player, joining Jordan Silk (141, Sixers), Ashton Turner (141, Scorchers) and Ben Dwarshuis (129, Sixers).

Recently retired Sixers allrounder Moises Henriques played 154 games between BBL|01 and BBL|15.

Peirson, the first male player to bring up 100 games for the Heat, has also captained the club and is closing in on 2000 career runs and 100 dismissals for Brisbane.

WBBL Heat legend Jess Jonassen holds the record of matches for the Heat club with 154 appearances to date.

Queensland Cricket General Manager – High Performance, Bennett King, said Peirson continued to demonstrate his importance to the teams he plays in.

“Wicket-keepers are regarded as the heart of any team and Jimmy has certainly built that reputation here with his feats over more than a decade with the Heat and Queensland Bulls,’’ he said.

“His recent century for Queensland in his 100th career first class game was exceptional, while he delivers certainty with the gloves in whatever format he competes in.

“He will again be an important member of the Heat squad this season with his skill, experience and leadership set to be important elements in our overall team make-up,” King said.

Tickets and memberships are on sale now for all WBBL and BBL Heat games.

The WBBL Heat commence their Weber Women’s Big Bash League season next week when they host the Sydney Sixers at Allan Border Field on Friday 30 October.
