The WBBL Brisbane Heat will go all out to start this year’s Weber Women’s Big Bash League on a high note when they host defending champions Melbourne Renegade in the season opener at Allan Border Field.
WBBL11 FIXTURE
The Heat lost last season’s Final to the Renegades at the MCG and their year-long wait for redress will end with the return clash revealed today as the very first game of WBBL|11.
Brisbane’s home game on Sunday 9 November will be the first of a double-header at Allan Border Field to launch the season, with the Sydney Thunder taking on Hobart Hurricanes in the second match.
As well as the Renegades, the Heat will host Perth Scorchers, the Thunder and the Melbourne Stars at their home ground at Albion between 9 November and 6 December.
They will also play a ‘neutral’ home game against the Adelaide Strikers in a double-header at North Sydney Oval on 30 November.
Brisbane Heat CEO Terry Svenson said the club again held high hopes for the WBBL Heat squad.
“Brisbane has made the WBBL Finals for seven seasons in a row now, and been runners-up for the past two years,’’ he said.
“They are a resolute and innovative group of players and staff and we’re 100 percent behind them as they get ready to go again and hopefully turn silver into gold.”
“We’re pleased with the draw that features two Sunday home games, including the season opener, as well as a Friday night match at Allan Border Field,” Svenson said.
The Heat won six games in a row to make the Grand Final last season.
The WBBL will start slightly later this season due to the ICC Women’s World Cup in India in October, with the competition to be completed just prior to the start of the KFC Big Bash League on 14 December.
The three-match Weber WBBL|11 Finals series will culminate with The Final on Saturday, December 13, hosted by the team that finishes top of the table.
Every WBBL|11 match will be aired on Kayo Sports and Foxtel, including 20 matches exclusive to Fox Cricket.
Once again, 20 regular season matches and every final will be shown live and free on Seven and 7plus.
Brisbane Heat Memberships are on sale now. The Heat this season are backed by Royal Caribbean as its official Membership and Holiday Partner, with a family holiday for four to be given away ahead of the summer.
Heat tickets for WBBL and BBL games will be on sale from next month through Ticketek.
The recent International Player Draft added Indian star Jemimah Rodrigues for her second season with the Heat as well as securing West Indian allrounder Chinelle Henry for the Brisbane squad for the first time in WBBL|11.
The Heat currently has 11 players signed, with four players left to announce.
One of those four remaining recruits will be a signing that will take place after the T20 Spring Challenge in October that will function as a lead-in competition for the WBBL.
Heat allrounder Charli Knott, who will captain Australia ‘A’ later this month, has signed with the London Spirit as a replacement player for The Hundred in August. Knott will join Heat teammates Grace Harris and Georgia Redmayne in the Spirit squad at Lords.
