HEAT SAY ENJOY THE GAME | Forget The Bet Campaign Continues

The Brisbane Heat and the Queensland Department of Justice have announced an extension of their successful partnership aimed at raising awareness about gambling harm and promoting safer choices among sports fans.

The renewed agreement will see the Heat continue to champion the “Forget the Bet. Enjoy the Game” message throughout this summer's KFC Bash League (BBL).

The promotion encourages fans to enjoy sport without the pressure or influence of betting, and supports the Queensland Government’s commitment to deliver safer communities by minimising gambling harm.

Forget the Bet. Enjoy the Game

Brisbane Heat Cricket General Manager – Commercial, Marketing & Corporate Affairs General Manager, Pete Lock, said the extension reflected the shared commitment to community well-being:

“We’re proud to continue working with the Department of Justice to spread the ‘Forget The Bet’ campaign,’’ he said.

“With thousands of fans attending Heat games at Allan Border Field and the Gabba each summer, we have a unique opportunity to start conversations about safer gambling and help reduce harm in our community.”

Attorney-General and Minister for Justice and Minister for Integrity Deb Frecklington said the Queensland Government was proud to be joining forces with the Brisbane Heat for the campaign.

“Cricket is one of Queensland’s most loved summer sports and our athletes are powerful role models, especially for the next generation,” the Attorney-General said.

“Through our partnership with the Brisbane Heat, we want to encourage Queenslanders to Forget the Bet and enjoy the game. That’s a win for everyone.”

The campaign will feature at all Brisbane Heat home games, across digital platforms, and through community engagement activities.

The Heat were the first Queensland sporting club to help address the normalisation of sports wagering when the club became ambassadors in 2023 to promote the ‘Forget The Bet’ campaign.

The new arrangement will extend their partnership for a further two years.
