Brisbane Heat batting trump Matt Renshaw has been rewarded for his super season with selection in the KFC Big Bash League Team of the Year.
RENNERS REWARDED | Named In Team Of The Year
It is the first time the clean-hitting left-hander has been named in the Team of the Tournament and continues a rich vein of BBL form in recent seasons, which has earned him a call up to Australia's T20 squad to tour Pakistan next week.
Renshaw earned votes from all coaches to be the only Heat selection in the squad that was dominated by the Melbourne Stars which were knocked out of the BBL Finals race last night by defending title-holders Hobart Hurricanes.
He scored 324 runs at 153.55, including his first BBL century in the memorable record-breaking run chase against the Perth Scorchers at the Gabba. The Heat’s winning total of 2-258 was their highest team total, with the partnership between Matt Renshaw and Jack Wildermuth the highest in BBL history and the first time twin centuries have been scored in the one innings,
Pace acce Xavier Bartlett was unlucky not to be named in the squad after finishing as the Heat's leading wicket-taker, claiming 15 wickets; the fifth time he's logged double figures for the Heat in a single season – the joint-most of any player in BBL history.
The Australian T20 bowler stepped up to lead the Brisbane attackl, bowling the most overs for the team in the Power Play and Power Surge as well as the crucial final 'death' overs.
