HEAT SET FOR WBBL|12

The Heat will take centre stage on the second night of WBBL|12, with Allan Border Field lighting up for fans as Brisbane looks to move on from a challenging season where they went winless.

The Heat will play four home games at Allan Border Field between October 30 and 29 November with a fifth home match at a neutral venue.

Three of those games will be night games, starting at 6.10pm local time, with the fourth being a Sunday afternoon game starting at the family-friendly time of 2.40pm.

WBBL Brisbane Heat coach Mark Sorell said the post-season debrief following the club’s WBBL|11 campaign had been confronting, but also beneficial.

“We focussed on the things we could control for the future and accepted the things that happened like injuries and the like which were out of our control,’’ he said.

Star allrounder Jess Jonassen announced at the end of the summer that she would stand down as captain of the WBBL Heat and Queensland Fire, and Sorell said they had enjoyed several productive discussions about the coming seasons.

“Jess and the other senior players have been excellent with their thinking and planning for this season,’’ he said.  

“She and Georgia Redmayne have been in good touch in the UK lately ahead of The Hundred which is great so see, while the Queensland players here have made a strong start to the pre-season.”

“And of course it has been tremendous for Lucy Hamilton and Grace Harris to be competing for Australia in the T20 World Cup,” he said.

While the current Big Bash signing embargo remains in place for the WBBL and BBL, Sorell said the club was confident of securing a competitive squad for 2026-27.

“We’ve had some encouraging non-binding discussions with some international players and are looking forward to completing our squad in due course,’’ he said.

The three-match Weber WBBL|12 Finals series will culminate in The Final on Saturday, December 5, with the team that finishes top of the table going straight through to the decider as hosts.
Every WBBL|12 match will be aired on Kayo Sports and Foxtel, including 20 matches exclusive to Fox Cricket.

As with previous seasons, 20 matches during the regular season and every final will be shown live and free on Seven and 7plus.
