WHITE HOT FOR HEAT | Quick Signs On

White, who was a Local Replacement Player last season without playing a match, played for the Heat last week in the pre-WBBL warm-up T20 Spring Challenge in Sydney.

The 19-year-old is the 15th player signed by the Heat for WBBL|12, which will be in action this Friday for their opening home game against the Sydney Sixers at Allan Border Field.

The Sunshine Coast Scorchers player made her Women’s National Cricket League debut last month for the Queensland Fire, taking 3-44 in her second game against NSW.

Brisbane Heat coach Mark Sorell said the club was delighted to sign White to her first full WBBL contract.

“Cathy is a highly promising young bowler, and we are very pleased to have her as part of the Heat squad,’’ he said.

“I know our bowling coach Andy Bichel has been very impressed with her pace and capacity to develop her skills around that ability to bowl quickly.

“She’s worked hard coming through the ranks and we are confident she will continue to flourish now she is coming into the WBBL,’’ Sorell said.

Growing up in Biggenden in the North Burnett alongside twin brother Aeddan, the siblings played junior sport in Childers and Bundaberg, with Catherine making her first Queensland cricket representative team while at primary school.

White was the winner of the 2024-25 Jodie Purves Young Cricketer Development Scholarship that is awarded annually to a regional and rural female cricketer to support their cricket and education endeavours.

Current WBBL Brisbane Heat and Queensland Fire players Charli Knott, Lucy Hamilton and Bonnie Berry are also past winners of the scholarship which is supported by the Queensland Cricket Foundation.

She has previously represented the Queensland Country Brolgas at the Toyota National Country Championships.

The Heat will step-up their WBBL preparations with an opening training session for members and fans at Allan Border Field from 4pm on Wednesday.

Tickets are on sale now through heat.com.au for Friday's opening match which gets underway at 6.10pm Qld time.
