One of the most exciting young pace prospects in the country, Lily Bassingthwaighte joins the Brisbane Heat squad for WBBL|11 after a breakout 12 months on the national and domestic stage. A product of Queensland’s pathway system and All Hallows’ School in Brisbane, Lily made her debut for Queensland Fire in the 2024/25 WNCL season and quickly impressed with her raw pace and athleticism. She represented Australia at the 2025 ICC Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup in Malaysia, where she played a key role with the ball — including standout figures of 3/7 against Sri Lanka. Now signed to her first WBBL contract, Lily adds depth and firepower to the Heat’s fast-bowling stocks and is a name to watch for the future.

Lachlan Hearne is a classy left-hander who brings calm, clean hitting to the Heat’s top order. After moving north from Sydney and making a name for himself in Queensland’s T20 Max competition, Hearne quickly climbed the ranks, debuting for the Bulls. A former Aussie Under-19 rep and recent Queensland One Day Player of the Year, Hearne now joins the Heat on a two-year deal, adding strength and style to the batting group.

Sydney-born quick Oli Patterson joins the Brisbane Heat for BBL|15 after a breakout campaign in Queensland’s KFC T20 Max competition. The 19-year-old left-armer was the leading wicket-taker in the 2025 T20 Max, claiming 15 wickets at an average of just 9.73 while conceding only 6.4 runs an over for Western Suburbs. His performances earned him a place in the T20 Max Team of the Tournament, alongside several established BBL names. A former Australian Under-19 representative, Patterson featured in Youth Tests and ODIs against India in 2023 and was part of New South Wales’ victorious Under-19 National Championships squad. He has also been a consistent performer in NSW Premier Cricket with Eastern Suburbs before relocating to Brisbane this year. Known for his whippy action and ability to swing the new ball, Patterson has quickly caught the eye of selectors and coaches alike. Heat coach Johan Botha praised his “skills, pace and ability to trouble batters from the outset” during T20 Max. Patterson says the opportunity to play alongside Heat quicks Shaheen Shah Afridi, Spencer Johnson, Xavier Bartlett and Michael Neser will be invaluable as he takes the next step in his career.

The Brisbane Heat will have pace to burn in 2024-25 with Australian Under-19 fast bowler Callum Vidler the latest addition for the KFC Big Bash League. Vidler, was a Local Replacement Player for the Heat last year prior to the ICC Under-19 World Cup in South Africa where he finished as Australia’s leading wicket-taker with 14 dismissals. The right-arm paceman, who has been clocked at bowling speeds in the 140km/hr bracket, is currently recovering from osteitis pubis, but hopes to resume his bowling prior to the BBL.

Hugh Weibgen is a composed top-order batter and natural leader who joins the Heat on a three-year deal after a breakout summer. The 2024 Australian Under-19 World Cup-winning captain made an instant impact in his BBL debut season, playing six matches for the Thunder, including two finals, after being signed mid-season as an injury replacement. Now in Teal, Weibgen links up with fellow U19 teammate Callum Vidler as part of the next generation of Heat talent.
