Washout Puts Heat Into Final

Sydney's wet weather has deliveed a repeat of last summer's T20 Spring Challenge Final between the Brisbane Heat and the Hobart Hurricanes.

Both semi-finals were abandoned today without a ball being bowled due to persistant rain, with the top two finishers going through to tomorrow's Final at Cricket Central.

With a better forecast for tomorrow, the two sides will enjoy one last hit-out before next weekend's opening round of the Weber Women's Big Bash League.

The Heat will retain Bundaberg product Taylor Stumer in their squad for the semi-final as a Local Replacement Player.

She replaces Mikayla Wrigley who suffered an ankle injury while fielding on the weekend.

Stumer, a regular contributor in the top order for University of Queensland in the Katherine Raymont Shield in Queensland Premier Cricket, has represented the Queensland Country Brolgas at the Toyota Australian Country Cricket titles for the past two years.

She is also a wicket-keeper.

Brisbane made the Final of last year’s T20 Spring Challenge which was claimed by the Hurricanes in the inaugural year of the competition.

If weather again intervenes tomorrow and no result is possible, Hobart will retain the trophy after finishing ahead of the Heat on net run rate.

The T20 Spring Challenge is a pre-WBBL warm-up tournament that features the eight Big Bash clubs as well as the ACT Meteors.

Each WBBL club have been required to keep one spot available on their list for an Australian domestic player who plays in the T20 Spring Challenge competition.

The Final of the T20 Spring Challenge will be live streamed on Kayo Sports, cricket.com.au, and the CA Live app.

The Final starts at 1pm Qld time tomorrow.
