Brisbane Heat pace spearhead Lucy Hamilton has been named the Weber WBBL|11 Young Gun winner after a strong campaign for the club.
Hamilton Highlighted | WBBL Young Gun Awarded
The 19-year-old fast bowler led Brisbane’s attack with the new ball throughout a challenging season for the Heat, claiming eight wickets with a best of 2-28.
The left-armed seamer, who captained Australia at this year’s Under-19 World Cup in Malaysia, captured the prize scalps of Meg Lanning, Beth Mooney and Tahlia McGrath throughout her WBBL|11 campaign.
Hamilton joins her WBBL Heat teammate Charli Knott as a winner of the Young Gun Award.
By winning the Young Gun award – for players aged 21 or under during the tournament, as chosen by the national selection panel – Hamilton follows in the footsteps of several current Aussie stars, including the likes of Ashleigh Gardner, Sophie Molineux, Georgia Wareham, Darcie Brown and Phoebe Litchfield.
The Heat finished their WBBL|11 campaign on Saturday night in Perth, losing to the Scorchers.
Brisbane's leading wicket-taker was Hamilton while South African allrounder Nadine de Klerk was the leading runs-scorer with 158 from her seven games.
