MCSWEENEY RETURNS | Heat Look To Rebound

The Brisbane Heat will welcome back Nathan McSweeney as captain as they look to begin 2026 on a winning note in tomorrow night’s New Year’s Bash at the Gabba.

The Heat will look to rebound rapidly from their loss last night to the Adelaide Strikers when they host the unbeaten Melbourne Stars tomorrow in front of a sell-out crowd after the house full sign went up earlier today.

McSweeney returns to the Brisbane line-up after recovering from an ankle injury suffered in the Heat’s second game of this year’s KFC Big Bash League.

He is the only addition to the Heat’s 14-player squad for tomorrow night.

Spinner Matt Kuhnemann and paceman Xavier Bartlett were selected today in the Australia’s provisional 15-man squad for the ICC T20 World Cup tournament in India next month.

Tomorrow night’s game features pre-game and halftime performances from leading Australian music act The Presets.

The match will be broadcast live on Channel 7 and 7Plus as well as Foxtel and Kayo. ABC and SEN will provide radio coverage.
