Heat Spread Play Cricket Message

Play Cricket month runs through this month and into September, with Queensland Bulls, Queensland Fire, WBBL Heat and Brisbane Heat BBL players in action at various locations, and QC community cricket staff activating events at centres throughout Queensland. 
 
With the support of the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR), the centrepiece of the campaign will be the StreetSmarts Regional Tour. 
 
The StreetSmarts tour will include player appearances and events in Cairns, Townsville, Mackay, Sunshine Coast and Toowoomba, with promotion of road safety to Queenslanders top of mind. 
 
The StreetSmarts Regional Tour will take place at: 
 
•    Monday 31 August; 3.30pm - 5.30pm, The Esplanade, Cairns 
•    Tuesday 1 September; 4.30pm - 6pm, The Strand, Townsville 
•    Wednesday 2 September, 3.30pm - 5.30pm, Harrup Park, Mackay 
•    Thursday 3 September, 4.30pm – 6.30pm; Rockville Park, Toowoomba 
•    Friday 4 September, 9.30am – 11.30am; Cotton Tree Park, Sunshine Coast. 
 
Included in the Regional Tour will be visits by contracted Queensland or Brisbane Heat players, come and try skill zones, a StreetSmarts High Ball Challenge and club sign-on information.  
 
Additionally, Mackay will also host its Schools Cup competition across the day at Harrup Park while Toowoomba and Sunshine Coast will also feature Smash Series Cricket games and activities. 
 
Smash Series Cricket is a fast-paced, 60-minute social format launched last year by ⁠Cricket Australia. Inspired by traditional backyard cricket, it features modified rules and soft or taped balls, allowing participants of all ages and skill levels to bat, bowl, and play without special protective gear. 
 
The Brisbane Heat Fan Day on Sunday 30 August at Allan Border Field will be another keystone element in the Play Cricket month activities. 
 
The Fan Day will run between 12pm and 2pm and be followed by live cricket action with the Final of the KFC T20 Max women’s competition.

In all, Queensland Cricket will stage more than 300 engagements and activities over the month throughout the State. 

Recent regional activities have been held in Mt Isa, the Central West and Central Highlands and the two-week Eddie Gilbert Program immersion that took place in multiple locations across Cape York and Far North Queensland. 

There have also been more than 100 school visits conducted in the opening two weeks in regional Queensland and the Brisbane metropolitan area.
