NYB HEADLINER REVEALED | Baker Boy to Light Up Gabba

The four-year deal guarantees the continuation of the Heat’s live music lineup on matchdays, headlined by acclaimed Australian artist Baker Boy, who will perform live at the flagship New Year’s Bash on Friday, 1 January 2027, when the Heat face the Hobart Hurricanes.

The renewal builds on TEG's nearly five-decade involvement in Australian cricket, combining ticketing services with live music curation to ensure stadium entertainment remains a core feature of the Heat's summer calendar. 

Baker Boy, one of Australia’s most admired musical artists, will play the pre-game show and a special performance as part of the StreetSmarts Half Time show. This will mark his first performance for the club and a return to Brisbane, where he attended the Aboriginal Centre for the Performing Arts in Fortitude Valley after graduating from Shalom Christian College in Townsville.

The Yolngu rapper, dancer, and artist won the ARIA Award for Album of the Year in 2022 for Gela while his most recent album Djandjay was released to much acclaim late last year.

He joins a New Year’s Bash line-up history that includes featured leading Australian artists like The Presets, Pnau, Peking Duk, Ball Park Music, Eves Karydas, Stace Cadet & KLP as well as Brisbane-based international vocalist, rapper and producer Example.

Brisbane Heat General Manager of Marketing, Commercial and Public Affairs, Pete Lock, said the fifth New Year’s Bash promised to deliver another powerhouse BBL event.
